Mike Wardian is a troll.
You guys understand Kilian is an entertainer, correct? He gets paid for this...
There's like two troll posts on the whole thread. You guys are being too sensitive.
Vollet has one minor sanction for an unauthorized stimulant back when he was a competitive mountain biker, likely due to negligence on his part and not a desire to cheat. It was a two month sanction, I think. We're not talking about EPO, steroids, blood doping or anything of the sort. It's hardly a "history". He's not allowed in some US races because of a misguided zero tolerance policy which does nothing to prevent doping in ultras, and punishes athletes who've already paid for their mistakes.
Both Jornet and Chaverot get tested in several of the European races they run, like UTMB, also get tested by ITRA, and Jornet also competes in alpine skiing, which involves PED testing too. I don't know about Caroline's other activities besides running, but I saw published in a Spanish trail magazine that in 2016 she was tested 13 times, in and out of competition.
Beyond that, Salomon has just started a program to get their top athletes tested by an independent third party. I don't remember all the details, but it seemed legit. I wish Hoka would do the same. There are some doubts regarding Walmsley, and it would benefit him, his sponsors, and the sport itself clearing them out.

I know. I took quite a few of those pictures.
Maybe you should change your name to 'Salomon fanboy"?? Two violations, but that is just minor in cycling: http://www.leparisien.fr/seine-et-marne/gregory-vollet-je-suis-positif-mais-pas-dope-10-08-2000-2001556198.phpGreg's folly.
why are they allowed to use walking canes?
They are not walking canes. They are troll sticks. Mountain walking is a troll activity.
Yadayadayada... It was minor, wether you like it or not. And I fail to see how Vollet's past has anything to do with Jornet or Chaverot, both of whom have been tested frequently and never had a positive. Are you another mudslinger like the ultrarunner podcast dude?
Get a life, kid.
OK Salomon fanman,Case study: a global athlete team manager has a history of multiple doping infractions (minor or not) in an endurance sport. He now is in close contact with high profile, sponsored athletes who are dominating in another similar endurance sport.Questions should be asked "wether" you like it or not.

Probably the same reason they have water stops every mile during a marathon that doesn't even have any hills.
Those questions are asked and answered every time they've been tested. Or do you believe in guilt by association?
Of course there are dopers who never get caught, but we can't just assume that every dominating athlete is cheating.
A lot of Kilian's success rests on his ability to move fast over technical terrain. He's not the fastest on a runable course. He's a great uphill runner but others can match him in a hard climb. He's very well rounded, and hasn't been overracing in recent years. His records aren't untouchable, and many have already fallen.
I don't know enough about Chaverot, but there isn't a comparable depth in female mountain running. I'm less surprised that she's dominating right now. Let's see how long it lasts, though.
For the record, I wouldn't use Salomon shoes even if they were for free. And I'd rather see Luis Alberto, Sage or Tollefson win UTMB than Kilian.

Why should bills dictate how many "water stops" there are?

I see people going on and on about drug testing, and in this case specifically the need to drug test in ultra's; my question is, what good do you think it will actually do? We all know of some athletes (and suspect others) who used drugs for years and years without being caught. What does testing really accomplish other than to make an athlete be more careful in their doping?
I'm not against testing, I think it should happen, but ultra's are small time with very little prize money and so there simply is no money available to do massive drug testing. I would say the lack of money in the sport also keeps "top" athletes out of the sport and creates a relatively low incentive to spend a lot of money doping. I wouldn't be surprised if it was occurring, but certainly not on the level that it is occurring in sports that test a lot.
In any event, if ultra's become big money then you can rest assured they will bring in drug testing and, even more so, you can rest assured that is when rampant drug use will start to occur and go undetected. Be careful what you wish for.
Really? Who do you have proof of that is using drugs and not being caught by official drug testers?I don't know any runners who are using drugs and not being caught and I wouldn't suspect any. Unless one of the regulatory bodies catches someone then they are clean IMO.
