We had 5 guys run faster than Eau Claire's 2nd guy. La Crap didnt run their guys because they are a bunch of softies.
How are 5 guys from Marquette able to run faster than Eau Claires second guy if they didn't even race each other.... on the same course? Me thinks you are a troll

Every time you post you put an even bigger target on your team's back. Did you even run last week at the "National Catholic Champs" on Friday? Or were you one of the losers left home and here you post a bunch of bull as fan boy numero uno? Do yourself a favor and go out for run. Stay away from the boards until you have something tangible to bring back besides a quintet of guys who had potential and ran mediocre against no one.
You mention they haven't raced each other, "so how can you compare it?". It's a two way street man, what piece of tangible evidence do you have that shows Eau Claire or La Crosse are better teams. Make fun of our competition as much as you want, but who exactly do you guys run against every week?? Nobody.

Oftentimes the answer is 1.) each other or 2.) North Central College, a team I think we can all agree is much, much better than Marquette.
Honestly, I doubt Marquette could even trophy at d3 nationals. They are a decent team, definitely. However, teams like Lacrosse and Eau Claire have produced much more consistent results, long term development, and ability to show up when it matters most. (i.e conference, regionals, and nationals) Some of the WIAC schools like Lacrosse and Eau Claire certainly do this much better than Marquette. Nothing against Marquette, but one would be naive to suggest that they could do a better job of developing individual and team talent compared to the top few WIAC schools.

The NCC argument is irrelevant because they don't race us either. Plus EC and La Crap get beat by them every year. How is this a measurable??

Go home. Your people run mediocre on fast courses against hardly anyone worthwhike talking about and that's about all you got.

Beautiful point made there. Nelson is a recreational coach at best. Spends more time parading his family around an XC meet than getting his athletes ready to go. Don't get me wrong, being a good dad is great, but this is your job, not a daycare. Keep the kids at home. Marquette's guys would probably be better off coaching themselves than taking direction from Nelson. At the very least, they'd have a better bill of health.
I can't wait to hear you guys defend this one... 4. 242 Wis.-La Crosse ( 27:15 2:16:14 0:31)========================================1 34 1792 Austin Zajkowski SR 26:58 2 40 1795 Ian Ewers SR 27:06 3 49 1801 Thomas Schultz JR 27:13 4 59 1797 Josh Schraeder SO 27:285 60 1802 Tyler Nault SO 27:296 ( 73) 1799 Mitchell Maegaard JR 27:407 ( 78) 1803 Zachary Shoemaker-Alle JR 27:46As the race was developing I couldn't see anyone in a La Crap jersey, so I thought maybe they really are just too good, and must be mixing it up in the DI race. Then I watched some more and saw a couple guys way back in like 50+ place and figured maybe they were sitting their "studs" for the second week in a row. Then I saw the finishing results. Wow... total facial.
Being 100 wrote:As far as it goes with La Crosse, they had the best weekend because they decided to sit their guys. Great move for them because contrary to popular belief on this thread, the La Crosse kids are mortal too. The Brett Harms kid would probably be La Crosse's 2-4 runner and he barely broke 27 this weekend. Reality check here, La Crosse would have run 26:30-27:15... They win the weekend because their kids won't have their egos ripped up by seeing a result north of 26 minutes.
This guys post from last weekend was pretty much dead on, except they ran even slower... STFU DIII Eagles.
To the above poster - I am not a La Crosse alum nor a current student. But it is 95 to 100 degrees in St Paul and the Les Bolstad Golf Course is notoriously one of the hardest cross country courses in the midwest. Before we go throwing stones we should look at the entire result set -

Who has Marquette run against here? If not this race, any of the races. Let's compare with common sense not ridicule.
So a 28:11 10000 guy ran 24:52 and only the top 24 broke 26. The other Grant Fischer, Obsa Ali and with a lack of detail at the moment a bunch of other guys with better tfrrs profiles than the best ever from both Marquette and La Crosse barely broke 26.
Mediator 2, We Are Marquette 0
https://m.tfrrs.org/athletes/4506587/Colorado_St/Jerrell_Mock.html1. It is 83 degrees right now in St. Paul (was probably 3 degrees cooler during the race)
2. Everybody had to run in it
To Mike Nelson-cough-cough... I mean We are Marquette
Read the results man. All the guys from La Crosse purposely went out slow to start the race. Only 1 guy was in the top 200 at 1k. They knew it was super hot out, and they knew the course is really hard. They didnt want to wreck themselves by red lining at 3k. Look at how many people they went flying by the last 3k of the race. Brilliant strategy and they still finished 4th without killing themselves.

Based on average time, LAX would have gotten 9th or 10th in the DI race. Not bad for a bunch of DIII wannabes.
Christ Griak has fallen on hard times...I remember my FR year there were 30 teams in the DIII race alone.
Anyway, times don't matter, especially on that course. And until they race each other head to head (which won't happen any time soon), Lax vs. Marquette is a matter of pure speculation.

Do you think we are a caveman and cant use google? St Paul was in a heat advisory until 8pm last night. Football games and road races have been canceled. I dont care what accuweather says. It was a hot and humid sweaty mess in St Paul today. Might say 83 at the time of lookup but the humidity makes that feel like 95.

Except Marquette didn't, so you can't really comment on how they would have fared comparatively.
Wisconsin is listed as going to Louisville this weekend. Will they run their real roster for the first time this year?
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
