not sure which track championships you are talking about? Unless you are referring to his 2nd place championship!
Alright, where the Badger Bashers at?

Hoare is a monster, way to go wisco!!!
He wins everything. One of the favorites in xc and in 1500/3k/5k next year, whichever events he chooses.
And Badgers looking a good chance to get the best Aussie High School kid next year.
Congrats to Ollie H. First badger 1500 NCAA champ since 1950, also Micks first national champ. I thought Mick was on the chopping block, but after that race, it's hard to see him getting fired during his time at Wisco. He will be in Madison for as long as he wants to be.
is the aussies plus the top footlocker guys they have gotten over the years go along with the in-state talent they have recruited, this is a top 10 squad. if they continue to get injuries and what not, they will not even make ncaas. big difference between this team and teams of the past. this isn't a team that is 9-12 deep and guys can have off days or get hurt. they need 2 guys in the top 15 and another 2 in the top 60 to be up there.

rumors are floating around that Finn Gessner is potentially transferring
Wow. He was one of the top HS runners a year ago. What about the rest of the rumor then, where?
I wonder if he is transferring or just dropping out like that guy at NAU.
I heard he is transferring to Milwaukee. Another fine pull for Corfeld
It doesn't look like there is any concrete information on the situation. But there are some things to consider here.
-Grades could be awful and he is dropping out of school
-He didnt perform well enough this year and his scholarship has been significantly reduced-- transfer for better money
-Mick cut him for behavioral or academic reasons
I suppose that even more possibilities could exist in relation to his status at Wisco. But lets take a look at his options.
-Stay at Wisco
-Drop out
-Transfer to other schools he was originally recruited by
-Transfer to Milwaukee.......
Just for fun, lets explore the last option. What if Finn Gessner-- the second coming of Chris Solinsky, transfers to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee??? Holy crap, that would be insane. Heres a look at their line up for this fall if they add Finn.
1. Finn Gessner Sophomore 4:12/8:47, Footlocker National Runner Up
2. Terry McMillan Senior 4:10/8:29
3. Noah Tagliapietra Freshman 8:32/14:32
4. Trevor Wenzel Freshman 4:20/9:21, Double State Champ
The rest. Alex Cotter, Corey Thornton, Nick Michalowski, Charlie Ellenbecker, Josh Freitag, Michael Sippy
Depth would still be an issue for the Panthers, but they would officially transform from a complete laughing stock into the second best team in the state, in just a 2 year period. No disrespect to any of the wiacs, maybe LAX still has them on depth at the 5 spot, but who would post a better top 4 besides the Badgers?
To be honest, I think Finn would have an amazing career at UWM. He would be a natural #1 and would be a hero to that program. He appears to run better as the top man, could see him still being a national force in xc without high caliber training mates. Can you imagine what a move like this would do for Milwaukee? How many others would follow suit from other programs that need new scenery? How many more high quality recruits would take a serious look at Milwaukee? I would care to say a lot. Not to mention how much better the current roster would get by training with a guy who is a national elite.
Also, side note, there has been some discussion about how well funded the DI's are in the state. If UWM signs Finn, it would have to be for a hefty price. They already signed 5 guys as details on their xc page. If they get Finn, I think that strongly suggests they are very well funded from a scholarship standpoint.
Probably a long shot from becoming reality, but thats part of the fun of posting on these boards. In any case, hopefully this has spurs some interesting points of discussion. Thoughts?
I could see him transferring to Bradley. It is close by and a smaller school with a good distance program.
He’s not transferring to Milwaukee so the analysis is off. Milwaukee will still not be as good as some D3 colleges.
Madison is annually ranked among top 50 schools in the country and when you factor out many of the first tier private schools (Marquette is third tier) and the skewed ranking system in the private system's favor it highlights UW as one of the best public institutions in America. Madison is a place where turning your homework in and being in class is simply not enough to push through with satisfactory grades. Other univerisities are much easier.
If Finn didnt prioritize and carried over bad habits from La Follette then he probably found himself enduring a lot of long faces from the results of his classes this year.
It's all fun and games until you miss two classes in a row.
Nobody knows if he is transferring. If he is, maybe it is because he is dissatisfied with his running. Maybe he is a 3.5 student.
Do we know if he still vapes?
