Was at the meet. Hoare is young and still developing and becoming an absolute beast. He closed the 3k in 1:56 last 800, 55 last 400, 40 last 300. Totally destroyed a good field including Davis of IL who has run 7:49. Imagine Hoare and McDonald running together next year. Both have the total package of strength and devastating kicks.

Marquette would totally beat Wisconsin right now...

Not totally sure about how you are qualifying these rankings. Not against all of it but to be honest, Marquette men would have gone 1,2 in the 800 and Mile, 2nd in the 3k, scored several in the 5k, and would have won the DMR in the WIAC, probably would have done similar damage at the Horizon Conf. Their point total would have been somewhere in the 50's. They run in the Big East against Villanova, Georgetown, Providence, and Butler. I know its not the Pac-12, but there are some elite athletes to compete against for points, and they no longer run the 500 or 1000 so there are no watered down events.
I think the hype factor on Milwaukee is great. It might be a little over the top from a couple people here and there, but the more I hear about them the more intrigued I get. I looked into them to see if they are ACTUALLY improving. Here's what I dug up from tfrrs.

Surprisingly, there is data that backs up their turn around as a program. They have recorded their highest point totals at their championships in consecutive seasons. Based on their indoor season, I would have to expect another new high water mark.
My rankings look similar, but a little different.
1, Wisco
2, Marquette
3, UWM
4, UWEC
5, LAX

. . . oh my god. They only lost the meet by 8 points, too.
Is Marquette better than I thought? I didn’t look at the results but second is impressive.

They are usually second. 2 years ago they won outdoors.
Wisco men will only have one distance runner going to indoor nationals. A GREAT runner named Oliver Hoare.
A GREAT DMR team also. I wish them the best of luck.
The dynasty is gone.
Kinda surprised by the lack of push back on the rankings from D3 land. The Wiac was super down this indoor season. Traditional Wisconsin powerhouse running is falling on hard times. What a shame.
UWEC's crazy fast DMR has shown how deep their distance squad is.
Mick needs to go! Not having an entry in the Indoor mile is an embarrassment! That thrown together DMR at the Big 10's was a joke too!

Side note, when is River Falls going to join the UMAC? When is the last time they scored more than 10 points in distance at a conference meet? Ever?
Does anyone know where I can find the declaration list/accepted entries for the Division III indoor championships?
@OP did you have any idea that this thread would still be going strong in March 2018?

Honestly, I didn't think this thread would see page two. The original intention of this was to spark discussions about the state of affairs for middle and long distance running in Wisconsin, but I didn't know if there were many people who cared about track and field/cross country in WI. Rankings often times are very polarizing because we all carry biases. Naturally, there are going to be people who agree and disagree. I think this thread has brought awareness and insight to the inner workings of many programs. There have been a lot of important contributions to this thread by people close to these teams, and I think we have all been educated in some way, shape, or form from this. I know I have. Let's keep it going.
So after the indoor season, who ya got for Rankings???
Indoors isn't over for everyone yet.
Mile: Jack Zoe Oshkosh
3k: Darin Lau Eau Claire
5k: Darin Lau Eau Claire, Walker Rynes Platteville, Thomas Schultz La Crosse
DMR: Eau Claire
That's Joe Zack.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
