Pretty awesome stuff. Kawauchi is building up his World Record tally:
Fastest consecutive sub 2h 10 mins marathons.
Fastest half marathon in a suit
And now most sub 2h 12 marathons and still counting.

His wife took third. That's a fast couple.
Best part? He had to be at work the next day.
Apparently Sara Hall won the HM in 1:10:xx
Apparently? Or she actually did?
If Japanese runners didn't run so hard all the time, and do those hard Ekiden races, they would be the best runners in the world....A lot of kenyan runners have stated that.
The runner culture out there is insane. It is totally supported from top to bottom.
Impressive, but cynically a meaningless stat. Who has the most sub-2:17 marathons? The most sub-2:10? The most sub-3:00 marathons? The most sub-2:59 marathons? The most sub-4:00 or the most sub-8:00.
The whole WR thing is dumb. WR should be just the fastest time, not quantity.

Then you must be against giving out medals and money for anyone for doesn't win a marathon. And also against any records for age-group, single-age, high school, NCAA, gender, course, track records; any times which are not WRs. Personal records (PRs) would also be meaningless.
Or, do you have exceptions you would like to make?
We're talking about world records, not excellent personal achievements that deserve to be recognized.
The point is, do they maintain records for most sub-2:13 and most sub-2:11 marathons? 2:10 has historical significance, but we're talking 2:12 here.
BTW, congrats to Kawauchi on his excellent performance.

Kawauchi's 23x sub 2:12:00 is an Excellent Achievement deserving of a WR for most ever. Yes, most sub 2:20s, 2:19s, 2:10s, 2:05s, etc. for men; most sub 2:30s, 2:25, 2:22s, 2:20s for women. They are all WRs worthy of someone working hard to achieve, and as impressive as a one-off WR.

Apparently someone keeps these stats, this has not been updated, but Kawauchi could have the most sub 2:10's-sub 2:20's

1. Kawauchi
2. Kebede
3. don't know
4. don't know
5. Who's to say a WR shouldn't be about how good you are overall, not just in a one-off?
Also, Kawauchi's not married. The guy who won is married to the 3rd place woman. Lucky guy.
Hall won the half. Desi in 4th.
The guy is a beast

Prize money shoulld probably only be given to the fastest runner to complete the race. Categories like age or gender should not receive any prize money but their performances still can be recorded for statistical interest.

Hall did win 1:10 and more interesting in 5th Des Linden in 1:12.
He also doesn't have a coach, which makes this all the more impressive. I've always been so impressed with this dude, runs with so many guts and is one of the most consistent marathoners I've ever heard of. Probably has run more 2:09s than anyone, on top of his WR of sub 2:12s.

Yuki needs another dozen, or so, sub 2:20s to nab the 76 sub 2:20 marathon record from Doug Kurtis. Yuki is 30 years of age and likely will get a record that seemed untouchable not that long ago.
Another impressive Doug Kurtis record is his 200+ sub 3:00 marathons.
