Andy Vernon is listed as 5'11 163 giving him a bmi of 22.7. He is also exclusively a distance guy.

I think his 2:08:59 victory in NYC makes him a marathoner.
Except that was a different Kiwi.

163 on a 5-11 frame? That's not very imposing.
Only on LetsRun is 6'00", 165 lbs. considered "stocky". In the real world, this is what "stocky" looks like: https://lockerdome.com/6956456188586817/7690623805293844
Ford Palmer shoutout:
6'0, 180lbs while in College. Ran 3:38/3:56 after college and was likely still around 160.
True says himself that he's 165 in this article:
http://www.runnersworld.com/elite-runners/big-ben
Page 10 of this USATF document also has Ben True at 6'0 - 165#

Both are from spring of 2013, so he may have shed a few more pounds since then.
Jason Hartmann, with 13:36/28:15 5k/10k bests and twice the 4th place finisher at Boston is well above Ben True. Hartmann is 6'3" and 203 pounds (25.4 BMI).
Canada's Peter Maher. Pack a day smoker turned 2:13 marathoner circa 1990.
He made Steve Jones seem scrawny.
Per BBS Atletics: 6'4" and 174#

Absolutely false.
From an interview in 2012 (when Hartmann took 4th at Boston):
Changing the subject a bit here. When I was watching Boston you looked like a men amongst children. How big are you, and what kind of role does size and weight play in running?
I am 6’3, about 160 when I am fit. Obviously there are less guys of my stature at the level I run. I mean most of the guys you could probably stack them up and they’d equal my height. Would I say it’s a disadvantage? I don’t know, it is what it is. Ideally I’d love to be smaller though.
How much weight will you put on during the off-season?
I usually try to gain weight. I am a firm believer that holding your peak for a long time isn’t so good. I usually get up to 165-167 during the off season.

Thanks for finding these stats. I was honestly a little concerned that I started this thread with bad info, and probably won't use Wiki as my only reference source from now on, but seriously, why would they falsify BMFTs weight? This also just goes to show you that what people are dead set certain about and shouting with a sense of authority can be full of crap. Need I remind you of Not All Cows!!!, with his quote:
I'm 6-2 and 165 and I can GUARANTEE you that Craig Mottram and Ben True DO NOT WEIGH 165!
Theses guys are rail thin compared to me.

Looks huge but 5'9.5" 148lb.

You're skinny fat, bro.

Maybe if he was a cannibal, if he was bigger, or if he was fast enough to catch Ben, but the facts are, Vernon is an inch shorter, 8 lb lighter, and slower.

I remember seeing Mahar before/after some races decades ago in Toronto (no where near him during the race!), he was a big rangy fellow who weighed a lot more than your average runner (about 175lbs according to bios) but on at
6' 4.5" he looked weighed like a typical skinny/lanky fellow, not at all stocky. Really light clean stride for such a gangly fellow.
