When I was looking at potential last-chance marathons to qualify for Boston, I cam across this one which is brand new. I love looped-courses and thought this race could be a great opportunity to run fast. When reviewing the course map I noticed that there were 2-3 spots where someone could realistically cut the course and cheat their way to a BQ (a big problem as we all know). So I emailed the race director to see if they were doing FAT and/or videotaping to monitor racers and make sure they can’t cheat. After 5 emails and a couple posts on their Facebook page, they never responded. I talked to several other potential racers and they too never received a response. One person did receive a weak response that the course was USATF certified. USATF certification doesn’t review the management of the event, just the length of the course.
Long story short, this marathon has high chance to cheat and we could see some very odd results from it. I would not recommend signing up for this race.
