Still better than Mo.
I like Bolt but some articles, like the recent Guardian piece, are especially embarrassing. Slavish fawning is never a good look. But maybe that's just me because even in high school, I thought the kids that followed the popular athletic types around, pathetic. The limit for me was when the British media turned Bolt vs Gatlin 2015 into "Good vs Evil".

Agreed. He's another athlete at the top. I find him interesting and have no negative feelings towards him, certainly. But it isn't like I keep hearing about these amazing deeds he does off of the track, saving orphans or something.

It does help if ya a clue what you're trying to talk about.

Far more things involved than just the wind. Altitude, temp, competition, track surface.....are all factors. So to get all wrapped up in trying to find some formula, nay.
Bolt is the fastest thing we've seen. That really is the bottom line.

+1. I like Bolt and he is amazing.
But I am sick and tired of articles on "What will happen to track and field when Bolt retires?", "Is athletics going to die without Bolt?", etc.
And Coe is basically his b*tch.

I thought Gatlin ran faster than his world 100m record on some Japanese gameshow.

I like Bolt - but do I think he or any of the Jamaican sprinters are clean - no. But I think there is something to the concern about the state of the sport after he retires. I tried to watch as much as I could of T&F at Rio and noticed how empty the stands were unless Bolt was running. They'd fill up to watch him run around 10 seconds in the morning midweek but even the evening weekend medal races couldn't spark much interest. I don't follow the sport close enough to know the up and comers who may take his place in terms of popularity but it's kind of like cycling - no one to root for as no one that is really good is believed to be clean.
I don't care if anything is popular with the masses. In fact, I like it when it's not popular.
The QOTD yesterday was particularly embarrassing. Insisting that we love him? WTF?
Bolt is fast but he has no charisma or any "star" qualities.
His clowning antics aren't really his fault though. There is pressure for stars to "do" something and that looks like all he was able to force himself to do under the pressure.

Hearing Cram say "He may have just saved his sport..." after Bolt's win was especially cringeworthy...
Think that was 2015?

It was. I switched to a French language channel for the remainder of that championships.
I don't care for his style or personality. Doesn't seem too bright or thoughtful based on interviews I've seen/read, but I don't know him. Nevertheless, when you are the man you are the man. And he is the man, the top dog. End of story.
good answer thanks
Bolt is Lance 2.0.
Karma comes back to bite them.

Well youre getting ur wish. hes retiring.
So you want our sport to die? If people have your attitude that is exactly what will happen. As a former runner I get slower every time a world record is set in my event. However advancements in sport are a good thing and I have to accept that this may mean some better times.

Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
