I am sorry for the boy but the decision to double was insane, given the weather. Clay wanted all, got nothing. Lesson learned, I'd say.
CLAYTON MURPHY STAYS HOME DEVASTATED
DEVASTATED!
It was just too much too soon
I told you guys in the USATF thread that it was an illogical move to run 2 long (compared to sprint) powerful doubles this early, and to do it during a WC campaign.
Now he has to wait another 2 years, and another 3 years for the olympics.
Not a smart move at all.

Arrogant DNSer. NOP will sign him for this meet's performance.

hopefully he drops an epic time some time this summer in Europe or diamond league meet.
nothing to lose, go for sub 1:42 or an AR
could be a good lesson for the guy. He's young, has an olympic medal, and will hopefully be in it in 2020 when the olympics is back around.
WC's is cool, but I'd rather he break the AR than see a medal around his neck this summer.
usually i'm a "medals is better" kind of person, but the WC's doesn't seem to have the same weight it used to lately and it'd be nice to get Gray's record replaced
Seems like he has raced a LOT this season already and a lot last year as well. Probably too much for an athlete so early in the process.
LOL greedy! deserved
said no one ever
looks like the new Oregon life is treating him well
Well done, Paul Doyle, well done.
Ok back to running... is he doping now??????
Sometimes you have to try something to learn from it.
I respect that.
Many great athletes have missed making their team at some point.
Rudisha may not be on the Kenyan 800 team this year.
He's the reigning world champ so he gets an auto bye to Worlds. Try to keep up.

This is a real shame not just for him but for the USA's mid distance medal prospects. Now we're out both Berian and Murphy. Basically one shot for medals now at 800m and then Centro is a possibility at 1500m if he gets healthy and fit by World's, and the race isn't too fast. Chelimo is an obvious medal candidate at the 5000m, as is even Jenkins, who has an excellent kick, but I don't see any of our 10k guys doing it. Jager is only only medal hope in the steeple on the men's side.

Jager is the US's best hope at a medal for distance at least. Close second is probably Chelimo. Gatlin and Merritt (possibly Kerley even if he keeps it rolling) all have very high chances of meddling as well, but yeah Jager, Merritt, and Gatlin are the only ones I'm counting on, Jager definitely the least.

Yep, probably too much time hanging with Wheating.
