He's right. No 100 meter runner needs 10 mile long runs. It is a very explosive event. Even 7 milers are too long.
Do 7 miles for all of your runs, and you'll be at 98 miles per week. You won't have much need for a long run on that kind of mileage.

You don't. You just train, and show up in August in good shape and ready to go.
