Matthew Centrowitz, the Olympic champion, spoke to the media for more than 11 minutes after he finished 2nd to Robby Andrews in the 1500.
In his post-race comments where he revealed he as recently as 2 weeks ago thought he wouldn't be racing USAs because of injury and a virus paid a nice compliment to both Robby Andrews and Leo Manzano. When asked if he was surprised Robby won he said, "I’m not surprised that he won or that he made the team. He’s one of those guys like Leo Manzano who always finds a way to get on the team, regardless of the season he’s having."

We asked him also what he thought about Murphy trying the double. Centro didn't know Murphy had been injured but said, "I'd think he (Murphy) would have a new found respect for the 15(00). You see 800m runners over the years think it's easy to step up, but it's a different event. As sometimes I think it's easy to step up to the 5k, and I'm quickly reminded it's a lot tougher than it appears on paper."
Centro did praise Murphy's talents saying "my hat's off to him (for attempting it), he's obviously a tremendous runner" and that he expected him to make the 800 team.

Centro also gave his thoughts on his Nike Oregon Project teammates Galen Rupp and Eric Jenkins.
On Rupp, "The guy's obviously an incredible competitor. For him to come back after Boston the Boston Marathon and just wanting toe the line, everyone has to got to respect that."
Centro said he has gotten close to Jenkins and doesn't see why he can't medal in London, "I’d expect a medal out of him. He barely lost to Chelimo last year and Chelimo got 2nd at the Olympics."
