Sorry let's run but totally disagree with you. Christian Taylor did the right thing for the sport by fouling and then leaving the us champs. I think it is just ego's of the usatf admin to require someone with not just one wild card entry but two to have to compete at the us meet where it is meatless for him. Every other sport talks about athletes have short careers and have to get the money when they can. Taylor is one of the biggest stars in track today and the messily little amount usatf pays at their champ warrants stars to not take it seriously and go where the money is.
It seems usatf admin never change. Their ego's are the only reason this rule exists. No other country would deign a wild card athlete a spot on the team. Since the wildcard is not transferable and not under usatf's control. They seem to have to pound their chest and make a rule where athlete's are still subservient to them. I though let's run might be more on the side of the athletes then the lame usatf administration.
This is a ridiculous rule that needs to be removed. Do you really want to see Taylor compete at usa instead of the world's? Those who have to have the stars at the champs do not appreciate the sport for what it is true pure competition. And there are plenty of talented athletes that aren't stars that are competing hard and a joy to watch. The us champs should be more about them then the has beens and former stars. Us champs should be about making stars not controlling them.
