Out of curiosity, what do other LetsRunners pay for their daycare? My wife and I paid $17,200 last year for our infant's daycare--not including diapers which we provided. We live in Columbus Ohio, but I'm curious what others pay as well?

Rich people be crazy
We have two kids:
1 in nursery school, 4 years old: $1,700/month.
1 in daycare, 9 months old: $1,600/month
Both are from 8:30am to 4pm, M-F.
On top of that we have a nanny who keeps them from 4pm to 7pm when we come back from work. We pay the nanny $16/hour, so about $1,000/month.
Total childcare for us: $4,300/month, and we provide lunch, milk, blankets, etc. Welcome to the crazy prices of childcare in NYC!
Ouch! We at least get care from 6am-6pm and meals are included.
NYC is insane with little kids. Until they're both old enough for kindergarten, my wife's full salary is going to childcare costs, and she sees very little of them. I know she's unhappy about that but she wants to keep her career.
I grew up in Syossett/Huntington area, so I can empathize. I've found the Midwest's Cost of Living to be very advantageous. I can't imagine what it would cost in San Francisco or D.C..
Stay at home parent. Juggling turns at times. Only sent kids to small amount of toddler pre-school for socialization. Just the 2 years before starting school, It was about 3 days a week for 3-4 hours at the most. It wasn't year round, Not much money, even with two kids in day care at a time like that. I can't remember Maybe $500 per kid a month 2008-2012 at the most. Before that when the kids were little my wife took them to a lot of "mommy and me" stuff.
One kid got public Pre-K . My kids have always been dropped off right before school and picked up right after school, or after clubs which they do a lot of. My wife and I frequently volunteered in elementary grade classrooms for each kid up until 4th-5th grade, then as chaperones, or at school events.
That's the way I always wanted to do it. Kids get a lot out of having their parents involved with other parents, teachers and administrators. I like that we are always keeping an eye on things, making it easy to talk with teachers because you are right there pitching in with them.
I suppose this costs more than day care, but it was a good choice.
Three kids. Daycare costs $0. Youngest is 25.
Now if you want to talk about college costs...
My wife was in management for a semi conductor company and is now a stay at home mom. So about $120k.
LOL! I totally understand.
Philadelphia
5 year old & 2 year old twins
3 days a week
$2300.00 a month
It's a great daycare, but it hurts to make that payment.

This arrangement is insane. She sees very little of her children, and for that she makes nothing? Your babies are raised by strangers and that's acceptable to you?
What's the point of working? You have two little kids who need a mother's love, time and attention, but her "career" is more important.
I hope for your sake that the price of Zoloft and psychological counseling are cheaper than childcare in NYC. You'll probably be paying for both soon enough.
I hope nobody has to do daycare. I personally don't trust people at all to care for my son. I understand people have to do it but I pray nothing happens to their kid.
We have a baby and a three year old. We pay our nanny about $38,000 per year including bonus. Our three year old goes Tom preschool, which costs about $18,000 per year i think.
So in total $56,0000 per year plus baby sitters for the very occasional weekend evening out.
