Now tucking into the pack? Rupp to the lead. All those surges were completely pointless.

Looks like it's a warm up jog to a sub4 final mile.
They've actually had a relatively fast last couple of miles. That and the heat might burn the kick out even with the very slow fast portion

I think he went to NAU. He was 4th at 2016 NCAA XC
TrackBot! Compare Galen Rupp vs Sam Chelanga
That won't hurt the first few runners as much, but the accordian effect can devastate the pack.
Chelanga may be an idiot but he's dropping some folks. Mead, Rupp, Derrick, Estrada, Korir, Mufasa, still in it
Shiver me timbers

These splits are pathetic. Letsrunners shouldn't be able to hang with these guys.
Rupp getting dropped
Any chance Chelanga is baiting Rupp for his ADP teammates?
I'm not watching, just keeping up with live results. it appears that Sam is doing all the work?
He has led for 12 straight laps....
They went roughly 8:00 the 1st 2500m and then 7:00 the 2nd 2500m. 7:00 is exactly 28 minute pace.
Weather is fine now. 81 degrees
Could not find / disambiguate Sam Chelanga
I am a bot. Info: habs.sdf.org/trackbot
Plan on Diego to take off now

If I was the guys in the second pack, I'd make Rupp do all the work. I'd say, "yo want to win #9 in a row -then you gotta do the work. IF not, we'll kick for third."
Mead is moving to cover Diego, Chalenga with another surge in the homestretch.
Derrick looks comfortable in the back of the pack on the rail.

I'm just watching the splits and this thread, which is far more exciting than NBC.
6 to go. Chelanga does the sprinting thing again.
If he wins this, I know nothing about running. I wonder if it is a team tactic to try and goad Rupp into going with them while Kipchirchir just sits in the pack. Kipchirchir has been in the back of the lead pack the entire time.
I'm changing my pick from Rupp to Korir.

How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?

Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
