Last 800 Huddle drops a 69 and a 65, Shalane couldn't match this - time for a little closing speed work.
She's just coming off an injury the kept her out for months. Just read an interview that she has only done a handful or workouts and felt that her speed wasn't up to where it used to be yet. Props to her for doing as well as she did given her lack of training and she would definitely be on the team if she was 100%.

The SPT does all the heavy lifting and misses the ticket to London. Sucks.

Had Flanagan not kept the pace honest, she'd have been lucky to get 4th.
The one thing I like about her is that she runs hard every race.
That was an awesome race! wrote:
Thank goodness for the LRC forum updates.
Especially along with the USATF race tracker.

Agreed. She is an amazing runner
Galen has a beautiful hat on. Hassan Mead looks taller than usual. Chris Derrick has a fresh haircut and looks limber. This is already shaping up for some excitement.
What's the over/under on how many hats Rupp goes through during this race?
Conley DNF
she ran a really dumb race. why become the defacto pacesetter in an incredibly hot race when you're not the fittest runner in the race?!i know it's 'tough' to front-run, but it doesn't win much, unless you're way better than everyone. the only international stars who front run win the race by a lot.this was a really dumb mistake. why not wait until 5k to go to put the pressure on if you want to lead a lot of laps? shalane wasted her opportunity and all of her training. she even said she was injureddisbelief. her career is almost over and she does this

Emily infeld is seemingly made of glass, and yet she manages to always be healthy in june and august when it matters. I think at this point she has earned the benefit of the doubt for future championships when she shows up with no prep races.
Korir's going to win.
Saw Albie talking to the meet director. Something about the conditions not Rupp-certified?

I'd say that has to feel good, but under these conditions, I bet it felt terrible.
You gotta at least admit that Salazar is smarter than everyone else. Rupp is wearing the cooling hat with ice in it even though the sun is down.
Everyone in the front sucks. Look for Diego Estrada to take off at any time.
Will Galen change his hat every lap of this 10k?
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
