Good morning all,
This is the part of running I probably like the least -- logistics.
I signed up for the 2017 NYC Marathon, and I know very little about New York.
I'll be driving into town, so I'll need to park somewhere. I'm hoping for something comparable or equivalent to a Hampton Inn, hopefully with a breakfast of some sort, somewhere around $150-$300/night. If there are significant logistical advantages for my situation, then I would be open to paying more, but really I don't need anything extravagant just for the sake of being extravagant. I'm planning on staying for 3 nights, Saturday till checkout on Tuesday.
Here are my main race day concerns: I'll need to get to the start of the race somehow. I'm sure I'll be in Wave 1, hopefully at the front with the pacers since I want to hit sub-3 to 3:05 (subject to training/actual fitness level). I should be able to find my way to the finish from that point.
My wife will probably want to leave the hotel, get some place to see me along the course, and then use some relatively convenient form of transportation to get to the finish to meet me. Then, we'll need to get back to the hotel somehow.
Aside from this, we're going to be pretty low-key on Saturday night, but on Sunday (after the race) and Monday, we're going to want to check out the town, so anything near cool stuff to see & do and eat is a bonus.
Any help is much appreciated!
