First time running 800 meters (advice/predictions?)

Hey guys- I signed up for my first 800 ever. I was a fatty who threw shot/disc in HS and lost a bunch of weight yadda yadda- became a distance runner. Anyways, I always wondered what I could do at mid-distance etc so I decided out of the blue to see what I could do for an 800. I'm not fast by ANY means- but as someone who was once over 6'6 300 lbs (200 now) and couldn't run a block without stopping over 5 years ago, I'm happy with my progress

Recently ran a 19:55 5k in December, a 41:59 indoor 10K (that was mind-numbing) and a 1:34:32 half marathon at the beginning of the month. My mile PR is 5:59. I am shooting for

2:45 but I have never raced this distance and I have no idea what will happen. I know it's going to hurt like hell.

Also any ideas on how to warm up for this distance. Any drills you would do. Thinking of jogging a mile to warm up. Race is at 7:45PM PST, feel free to throw in your prediction if you like.

2:45 is possible. Go even as possible..41s. If you have been doing speed work and have any, may a little faster first 200. Injury risk is real in a one-off speed race though, protect those hamstrings..

I would not jog a mile but if it works for you, do it. I'd focus on drills and dynamic stretching.
