So then he is arguing that we should do something about Muslims? Harm due to lightning strikes would be much higher if we weren't trained to avoid them. The same with walking down stairs.
Furthermore, you are looking at voting from a selfish viewpoint. Many of us do not only vote for what benefits ourselves. Some of our vote is about benefitting others. For example, I do not live in a border state so I don't suffer from a significant amount of illegal immigration. However, I have compassion, empathy, and sympathy for the voters that do live in such states. The same with immigrating Muslims from countries that have a Muslim problem (not all Muslim countries are the same).
Voting is about everyone not just what benefits or harms you directly.
