PyeongChang, South Korea, is to host the 2018 Winter Olympics. What could possibly go wrong?

Ioc officials got their bribes. So many contracts yet to skim.

3) Lolo Jones not on the USA bobsled team

A Canadian could win the glamour event then fail the standard post event testing.

Or Russia could boycott the event. If they are invited in the first place.

No snow. Warm temps not conducive to snow making.

We saw some of that at those dud Olympics at Sochi. XC course was a joke - slushy snow, unseasonably warm temps, competitors going with short-sleave cutoff shirts, no gloves.😄

No one bid for 2022 except for Beijing and Astana. Reno/Tahoe was in the early stages of putting together a bid when the USOC decided they wanted to focus on summer 2024. IOC panicked and asked the USOC (and Europe) if any other city could bid and the USOC responded that they could host in SLC again like in 2002. Not good enough . . . so it goes to Beijing.

I believe there was Scandinavian country and German city bidding that were early favourites but both dropped out due to IOC officials demanding too much for their visits

Why doesn't Antarctica ever bid on these things? Buncha tightwad lazy penguins I tell ya!
