It needs to be noted that it was an FAT split.

Holy sh*t. Obviously benefiting from a running start, but still. That girl is TALENTED.
Mind... . blown. That together with the 3:56 mile from a 16 year old yesterday. A new generation is taking over.

Split at NBON. Unreal
What is especially stunning about that split is that part of the 1st curve and all of the 2nd curve were run in lane 2. It seems like she still made up ~50 meters
on the leaders.

And a 16 year old Steepler running 8:11.22 last week AND a 16 year old Kenyan who has run 3:40.8 and 3:40.9 at Altitude (5 times under 3:45) and he was born in 2001 so younger than Jakob Ingebrigson who he will race next month at World Youth in Nairobi.

Track and field is in great shape with young talent.
Yeah man some millionaire football quarterback or runningback is gonna wife her up put a big rock on her finger and support her as she crushes track and field records. Not saying she won't make a ton of money herself but that's who she will end up with
The live webcast still has about 2 hours to go, they do a great job streaming it. Last 2 events tonight are the Boys/Girls 5K
Wow! That was an impressive run!
Thanks for posting the video!
Just for the sake of reality here, the standard factor used by T&FN for converting a 4x400m relay split — for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-leg splits — to its open/flat equivalent is +0.7 seconds. (Allows for the running start and slightly shorter distance in reaching backward for baton at the exchange.)
So 49.85 +0.7 = 50.55. Still awesome, of course, and I believe faster than McLaughlin's open 400m best so far this year, but not sure. Anyone remember what that was?

According to another thread it was 51.88. It makes sense it's better now as that 400 was before her great 200 time at the NJ Meet of Champs
I had no idea Sweden had so many dark-complexioned ladies!
She ran much of that in lane 2, so add .7 for the relay then subtract .3-.5 for not drafting, which a lot of your typical fine relay splits will have, and subtract .5 for the extra 4m she ran. I don't really believe she can run sub 50 open. But sub 51 national hs record is going to happen soon.
As noted, she ran most of the curves in or near lane 2, so ~6m extra. at 8m/s, that negates the 0.7 conversion. In other words, near 50-flat open FAT, maybe sub-50.

Has it occurred to anyone else that the star who will replace Usain Bolt will be a female?
