3 x 800 on trails - 2:27, 2:27, 2:28
3 x 200 on track (in spikes) - 27, 27, 26
I could have given Nick a run for his money today.

As profoundly disappointed I was in the splits of that workout, I still have the upmost faith in Symmonds to pull this one out of his ass and be in contention to make it to worlds, he has too much talent for me to want to bet against him. Plus how funny would it be if he runs 1:46 after posting workouts of this quality, I agree with the TC, I could also run this workout lol
I've read his pre 2012 log (https://go.getrungum.com/training-log-optin9664392) and many of his workouts were un-remarkable. There is a stretch leading up to his 3:36 1500 which I could have handled and I only ran around 3:52.
There is something to be said about including training in cycles at 80-85%.
Yeah, although he does admit that he has been really tired from training, and is going to taper after today. It's kind of sad to see such a legendary athlete's career come full circle like this, but even Symmonds knows this and you can sense that he knows this in his videos, but everything has to come to an end at some point. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with him at US Champs, but Nick is only running it because he can since it's last year he'll get
free qualification from his World silver medal.

You guys are so gullible..
You really think he's that out of shape? He's playing for the audience that the workout is hard and he's tired. That workout was meant to be slow and easy. Plus, how do you know he didn't do those 800s in 2:17 instead of 2:27.
Either way, this guy is making the build up story the classic underdog comeback story but without the pressure because you don't see him ripping fast intervals and then bomb USAs. He will run 1:45 and finish 3rd at the trials behind Murphy and sowinski
Yeah, I dunno if he's actively trying to dupe us, but the guy was USA champ 2 years ago. He was second in the world four years ago. He's been out of the game for less time than Bekele was.
I don't **really** expect him to win USAs, or necessarily to make the final, but it does feel like he's enjoying being counted out right now.
I'm just bummed that his Straight 8 race won't be happening this year...:(.
he looks fat
Guys he ran a 10 mile long run and stopped to walk/blog during the middle of it. He was saying how tired he was and how he was going to "try and average 7 min pace on the way back." I understand that people can feel tired on easy days but this is kind of ridiculous.
He is definitely underselling, but how much is hard to tell. I think he will run 1:46-high and call it a win.
I wish elites would do vlogs like this in their prime, but not going to hold my breath.
He looks fat.
None of his workouts are anywhere near where he used to be.
I bet he either goes 1:48 or he bombs (giving up the last 150 to run like 1:53).
This is blatantly obvious, he's like a kid at a high school meet downplaying his times so they'll count him out, and all the fans will adore the Nick Symmonds comeback story.
He's such an attention whore, refusing to wear the Nike uniform was just him pitching a fit so people would look at him.
I can't stand him.
Nick will be top three. He'll use the rounds to progress. You'll see.
I don't see how some people don't like him.
He is very personable and reaches out to include the fans. A great competitor and has accomplished more than he probably should have.
And he really has fun with the sport.
I've met him briefly in person and got the same personable vibe.
He will be missed from the sport.
I hope he gets in at least one good race next week.
He recently ran 1:49 low and has upped his workouts since so he can't be in too bad of shape right now.
That workout didn't indicate even 1:49 shape so we can't judge anything from it.
This is what he does for a living (run)...there are many of us out here with real jobs that can handle 7 min pace after long hours of work without a complaint. This sort of mentality can only come from a privileged mindset. Brooks shouldn't be paying him...he is sucking at the job.

He got you to mention the name Brooks.
Yeah really not sure where the hate on Symmonds from LR comes from. Maybe it's because he's outspoken against USATF and Nike, just like Pre was, and just like LR is today. Or is it because he's got a big personality with some showmanship (because we all know the last with T&F needs is more personality...) and likes to build his brand. God forbid a runner have interests outside of running right?
For people saying this is a pure marketing hoax and he's lying about his fitness so it seems cooler when he wins USA's and breaks 1:40 blah blah blah...what a load of shit haha. He's 34, raced once in the last year, and is coming off of injury. I think it's reasonable that he'd run shitty.
What is the love affair with a washed out old middle D poser. He hasn't done anything, anything for a couple of years now
The problem with are you Nick worshipers is that he's not really good for the sport. He's the biggest poser when it comes to taking on Nike. He took Nike money for years and had no problems with Nike screwing other athletes when he was with Nike. And then he pitched a fit when I hit the shoe was on the other foot. That is not someone that cares about the sport that is some of the cares about himself. He's not even close to pre.
Not to mention he asked like his gum Is a revolutionary product. Clearly stole the idea from someone else. And it doesn't really work
The hate comes from jealousy. No question about that. These are little boys that couldn't get a female to notice them so when they find out Nick is a smart good looking top level athlete then they will do anything to try to hurt his image. Must be tough to live life like that. Just enjoy someone that has made it in this very difficult sport and found a way to market himself (yes, that is a HUGE part of it - not just running fast).
There are two main reasons it is next to impossible to make money in our sport. Number 1 is not enough people care. When a guy like Nick comes around and gets people to pay attention then he is labeled on here by a bunch of losers as an attention whore. Pretty funny.
Reason number 2 is that our athletes are not exciting to watch or interview. Boring interviews. Well, not Nick. He is different and that allows him to make money. Good for Nick. Keep doing what you are doing. My personal belief is that he is not bluffing that much. I do not see him making finals although I would love to see him top 3. Good luck Nick!
