Announcers didn't have a clue who was winning the 1500 down the stretch. That was pathetic.

Jake Wightman takes the 1500! 3:34, nice win for him (PR? I assume)
It was, by a bit more than a second.
I've been saying for the longest time... Degrasse is really not that good. He got lucky that everyone ran poorly in the final and that is that. He has had only a couple of solid times, and literally nothing else. His running form is ugly too, and his coach from ALTIS said something like he is the worst trainer I have ever met. He simply got lucky that Bolt's presence screws everyone else up mentally so he got some medals.
Don't forget, without the Russian dopers.Your view of women's 800 is warped by doping in the past. Fortunately you have your lovely manladies to take up the slack.

Indeed. Without the top three women's 800m would be currently very weak.

What has being African got to do with anything?
It's not as if there aren't also African women being unfairly disadvantaged by this farcical situation.
I wonder if Elijah Manangoi still thinks he has a shot at the world record. I say he'll be lucky to make the Kenyan team given he's decided to run here while his competitors prepare.

The American commentators are completely clueless of any distance runners who aren't American. It's actually ridiculous. Like they're actually awful. I have no idea how they were given this job.
On a side note, Jake MF Wightman!!!! Where the hell did that come from?! Just a few tenths of a second outside of the Scottish record too. Both him and Lewandowski had huge runs and very well deserved PRs. Big contender for the British title.
Manganoi and Kwemoi and everyone who claims to have a shot at the 1500 world record (Kiprop and maybe Silas Kiplagat aside) don't seem to respect just how good the record is
pretty good run from Lewandowski for third

True. They are saving women's 800, not destroying it.
Just for the record, how common is it for female track athletes to be wearing a WIG?

Who knows - if they do wear a wig, they must be secured on their head well since we do not see them flying off when they are running.
I'm able to stream the meet at crickfree.net.
In the Semenya interview, she sounded like a male, she looks like a male, but this proves that just because something looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, does not mean it is a duck.
Seriously though she has no control that she was born with an extremely rare condition, she is NOT Cheating, she was born that way, It might/probably gives her an advantage in Athletics, but it probably sucks in everyday life, she probably was teased continuously as a kid growing up and she is at a huge disadvantage socially especially when she wants to meet men, her looks and voice probably scares men off with them thinking maybe she is a male, a transvestite, kind of sad actually.

El K has a complex. He's very anti British and anti European whilst claiming that everyone else is anti African/Kenyan.
The irony is delicious.
(Also Schippers got DQ they just let her run for the fans)
Wooow, Wightman >>> Manangoi? There goes the neighborhood.
douglas burke wrote:

I was born with no discernable talent for running. And I'm no looker either.
I had no control over that at all. So to compensate I should definitely be allowed to compete against women.

Surely you're aware that she doesn't want to meet men.

Yes and no.
There are a number of cheaters on the top performers list for the women's 800.
Then there's the bar for 800 women...

Halviking, Norwegian track isn't served by allowing its premier event, one of the great World track meets, turned into a third rate mostly local meet.
Showcasing the youngest Ingebrigtsen is fine but he could have been in the Dream Mile with world class opposition instead. 3:56 is incredible for a 16 year old. I have to wonder whether he'll ever have world class closing speed (he closed in about 58), but he will go sub 3:50. Back in the day, Norway had some great athletes. Kristiansen set world records and helped move women's distance running into the modern age. Rodal and Thorkildsen won medals.
Sorry to see this meet turn into this. Why bring in Semenya and the other two likely intersex athletes when the meet really lacked star power in the other events?
Did nobody else notice Wambui only had one shoe? Watch the race. It's obvious the last 100, but then during the after race handshakes you see her standing there with no shoe.
