Aouita (and Decker Slaney) are the greatest because their range stacks up (or wins straight out) even without EPO.
They both certainly used PEDs. But EPO is a different ballgame. And every significant distance mark since 1991-92 has benefited from EPO. Every one.
Choge has no name recognition because he's just one of the hordes running sub-13 in the EPO era.
Geb's name will live, certainly, but his lack of a fast 800m time is the tell. Before EPO, you had to be really fast (elite fast) at 800m to run sub 3:30, or even approach it, no exceptions. After EPO, again, different ballgame.
Said and Mary will always have their detractors but their names will deservedly be remembered for their true talent and accomplishments.
