Since Keitany just ran 2:17 in London, some may have been wondering if she'd go after Radcliffe's WR in Berlin this fall. She will not. She's headed back ot the Big Apple!

She must be going for the money.
Personally, I'd go for the record in Berlin.
Translation: The appearance fee is too good to turn down.
It makes zero sense to run New York this year. She is still in her prime, and she is in amazing form at the moment. With Chicago and Berlin happening during the same fall marathon season, and both races have a fast course, the logical action would be to go after Radcliff's record.
This is very underwhelming. I would rather for her to compete at the WC than to waste her ability in New York. However, there is no money in that.
Well, it's all about Tirunesh in Berlin or Chicago, I presume.
No, it's not all about Tirunesh in Berlin or Chicago.
It's about Keitany trying for a fourth win in NYC, which, in more ways than one, is worth more than many of you seem to realize
Tirunesh isn't going to set any marathon world records, not anywhere.

People don't care quite as much about NY anymore, except for Americans. But I'm sure Mary is getting good money there.
Really surprised by this; I was convinced she'd go after the WR in Berlin. In a selfish way I'm pleased - Paula's WR is absolutely amazing and I'd like it to last as long as possible! The negative split of 68:02/67:23 makes it all the more impressive.

What foolishness is this?
Do you realize that Tirunesh ran 2:17 in London, and that was only her second marathon, and she did it after losing close to a minute due to her catching some type of stomach illness while she was running?
She was actually closing in on Mary before she got sick!
Tirunesh will clearly be the favorite going into either Berlin or Chicago. Sumgong and Jepto have been banned from competition, and Kipligat is out of her prime. So, yes, it will be all about Tirunesh.
If Mary does not smash paula's record, tirunesh will. She is the greatest female distance runner of all time, with insane track speed ( she is still record holder at 5000m).

If Berlin had English commentary and better broadcasting, they'd have more money to offer because their marathon would be a hell of a lot better, and they'd have more money.
