As promised, quick first impressions. Only got 5 miles in them today. Initial step in reminds me of trying on the Clifton the first time, tall, and slightly awkward to walk in, only for a few minutes. Upper is great...reminds me of the streak 6 which I like. Stiff sole, but that is only in flexing (like by hand which is not relevant), however I would say they are quite well cushioned, like not even close to your typical flat. Still feel responsive though, which is weird...I really felt comfortable in all paces I tried today which was anywhere from 6:00 to 8:30 pace. I am very excited to get some more miles in. Was especially liking the heel cushion going down hill, felt great. This are really different shoes, in a good way. I think they will please a lot of distance runners. For reference lately I've been running lately in Clifton 3, NB Zante, Adios 3, and last couple marathons in Streak 6. The only shoe out of these with more cushion are the Cliftons, but those are "slow" shoes for me, recovery and easy only. The Fly's I could see wearing for just about anything but true speed/track stuff. Oh, and watch going around quick corners in these, they aren't made for that either. If you need any type of "stability" these aren't for you. All in all, out of the box I'm impressed and looking forward to getting out tomorrow. I could see running in these as trainers and race shoes for 1/2 marathon and up, much like the Clifton 1.
