this is by far the best ncaa for men for 100/200/400/800 in living memory !!!
i'm more excited about what coud be run here than in london !!!
- 100m : Coleman had that blazing 6.45i which i estimate is 9.90 basic outdoors & with nice wind wouda been 9.8-low
that was months ago !!!
he musta improved since then
i reckon, if he gets nice legal wind & good start, he coud become only the 2nd man after bolt to skip a whole tenth barrier & go from his current 9.9+pb, skipping the 9.8s & go directly into the 9.7s !!!
( bolt skipped actually 2 barriers of tenth going from 10.03, skipping 9.9/9.8 & to 9.76 )
- 200 : Coleman may be too tired to do his 200 justice, but in another thread i noted his 19.85 into a wind was off too quick a bend & easing off a tenth coud get him a 0 wind 19.6-low !!!
- 400 : Fred can cruise to title in 44-flat
i noted his split in easy 44.09 & it was ~ 21.0
that was way too fast, even though we know he couda run 43.7 that day
my estimate is if he eases off few tenths in the 1st 200 he can come back much stronger in last 1/2 for ~ 43.2/43.3 !!!
however, he already has ncaa record & may settle for cruising to 44-flat
800 : Korir is by far the class off the field & that 43.34 relay leg indicates 44-flat speed !!!
he already has that fantastic 1'43.7 off huge -ve splits off ~ 1.25s
( note brazier who is in undoubtedly 1'44+ shape currently off fast pace went out quicker than Korir recently in 52.18 & lost in 1'46.01 !!! )
Korir can win it gun-to-tape in 1'42+ ( probably 1'42-low if wind isn't too bad & goes out in 50-flat/low ) or jog to 600 or 700 & blast the finish with that blazing 400 speed which i'm sure translates to a 100/200 sprint
quite simply, best ever ncaa in prospect...
