No. Oco Huac ran a 3:48 mile in 1532. The Andes runner blitzed the Machu Pichu trail from advancing troops of Francisco Pizzaro.
El mejor atleta Peruano era Tupac Amaru! No pasa nada este Oco Huac de que hablas! If David Torrence were tied up to horses the way the original Tupac was, that cholo would get torn to shreds al toque!
Check out the men's shot and discus guy on the wiki list. Looks like a Plastic Peruvian. Anyone know his story? Is Peru recruiting like some of the North African countries?
No
At first glance Michael Putman (Peruvian record holder in shot and disc) seems unrecruited to me. Perhaps he grew up with Peruvian citizenship

Torrence could have any record between 800-10k indoor and out that he doesn't already have (outdoor 10k 27:53 would be close, but I don't think Torrence would be interested).
Torrence is good right now, he basically can go to indoor and outdoor World's and the Olympics as long as he meets the standards and his federation will most likely take him. He has actually been running quite well since the switch and I've always been a fan of him.
Because of his nationality switch he might not be getting as much money is his next contract, but who knows what he's getting paid.

He is no different than the Kenyans and other africans switching to middle east nations to be able to run. They get paid, he doesn't from the country that they are recruited to run for.
He will miss out on the bonus opportunity Americans get for making a US team, standard in most contracts. He won't get US ranking bonus's at year end. He won't be able to compete for US road championship dollars.
Mario Bazán was previous 1500 NR holder 3:43.68

And Mario Bazan has Africans roots. Primary a steeplechaser (8:28 PB)
I think 1:02.xx Peruvian HM record is not too far of "Davicho's" Potential.
He IS different than the Kenyans because his mother is Peruvian. So he has a legit connection to Peru. Not the same for Shaheen, Kamel, and others.

Your research skills are better than mine I found that Mario Bazán was born in Lima Peru what are his 'Africans roots' ?
Bonus's? WTF, dude?
Yes, he now has the WC/Olympic golden ticket...
I'm happy for him. He was one of these guys that was always at the cusp of making the team.
Sort of like having the best cleavage in Pakistan.
