Avery used the title to get access to kids and facilities and then when he had to stop getting paid or stop volunteering he got going.
I doubt he needed the title to get access to the kids to get coaching clients. The parents already knew of Avery and his success.
I believe he took the volunteer position to help out the kids because he has a passion for coaching and cares about the athletes. In my opinion.
Did he make a mistake? Perhaps. Was it intentional, I don't think so.
Finally, you realize a mistake was made. Fortunately, intent doesn't really matter when you violate rules and law. Well I guess in things like murder classifications it does, but at the end of the day, the guy messed up. And as I have said the school officials that were in the know messed up too. The fact that people are trying to defend the guy instead of saying hey he messed up, but look in example x he took a kid not paying him privately instead of another kid who did pay him even after that kids parents complained. It's obvious and has happened that once Avery could no longer get paid privately and coach at the school he has chosen to stay as a private coach and ditch the school. That's his perogitive though...
