Word on the street is that the South’s course was way short. They hosted CACs the other week and times were WAY faster with less competition. Are they trying to weasel a third bid? Not going to work.

Get out of here with that nonsense. The course was slightly different than a few weeks ago but it was a legal 8k. This is BS.
I just ran at the S/SE course. It was not short, at least not by a significant amount. However, the course had perfect footing, was extremely flat (it actually had a net downhill I believe), no sharp turns, and plus the weather was spectacular. Low 40's, sunny, and very little wind.
The race was very intense as well, by the two mile mark the runners were already strung out.
I would say a majority of runners PRd, but that is mostly due to great conditions, not a short course. (I could be wrong though)
Still would be shocked to see top 4 as anything but:
1. NCC
2. Haverford
3/4 UW Lax/Genny
At the very most it was 20 seconds short. Congrats to everyone for racing well today.
Midwest course is Garmin certified 4.97 (8k). I know the results seem super fast but multiple people ran the course with Garmins and each one said the same thing. I mean you always have the margin of error but still. Race was D1 style- out from the gun, Lau 4:38 at the mile and just a string of guys after.

If that's how the race went, it was definitely short. The winner would have closed in a 2:40 1k, and a 9:05 2mi. IGC and Grant O'Connor didn't close that fast. Everyone in the top ten closed well under 3:00. This is true across the board, too, just about everyone would have run 15-30" a mile faster in the last 2 miles than the first three. That's not usually how 8ks go, especially if runners were strung out by two miles.

Of course the last mile will be fast. The last split is only .98, not a full mile.
I willingly admit that the course could have been short, but not significantly. 20 seconds at MOST. The fast times are due to the absolutely perfect conditions.
If I run a 20 second PR for the 5k on the track, are you going to blame it on a short track? NO.
I do not wear a GPS watch, but I would imagine it was 4.95-4.98... Anywhere on the boards get a good measurement of it?
And I am not trying to make a case for the south region. We still don't deserve an at large bid. I imagine CNU will finish close to top 10, but these fast times do not indicate the south will perform well at nationals. It was simply a fast course, with great conditions.
On second glance, I can see NYU bumping U Chicago off this list. U Chicago has beaten no other team that qualified, aside from Emory, and lost to NYU at UAA's. Both lost to Emory at UAA's.
Those 3 teams seem to be the only "bubble" teams, with room for 2 of the 3 to get in.
Laughable
The Auger course is probably 300-400m short of an 8k
This many D3 runners don't run that fast. Period.
Any confirmation if the course changed from past regional meets? Looking at the times from the regional meet in 2015 it appears that the winning women's time was around 20 to 25 seconds than the winner that year and the men's winning time was around 10 seconds, but the men's winner that year was Ian LaMere so that's the outlier in comparing the men's times.
Anyone else see Nebraska Wesleyan's teepee today at the Central Region? It was pretty sick.

What's the argument for Nebr. Wesleyan over York?
Both have no significant inter-regional beats throughout the year and Nebraska Wesleyan was way closer to third than York was to third
Why have we not talked about IGC going home DEVASTATED to GOC today?????
