RPI beat Middlebury twice by an avg of over 20 seconds for 1-5 so far this season. If Middlebury moves up from 17 and RPI moves out of top 20 what are we basing our rankings on? This is a down year for the NESCAC, due to this, Amherst and Middlebury looked better than they actually are because of it.
La-Crosse will be no worse than 3rd at nationals.
Don’t sleep on Amherst peaking at the right time. They’re getting better every race and they found a 5th at NESCACs. Before conference they ran 4 deep and their #5 was way back. At NESCAC their usual #5/6 finished 11th overall. If that’s sustainable then they’re actually underrated at #6.
Who are the trophy teams right now?
NCC, UW Lax, Haverford, Genny podium, right?

I would through a lot of teams in the hunt for that last trophy with Genny(PP, Loras, Amherst, JH, Calvin). A lot of teams have shown signs of promise but haven't preformed consistently throughout the whole season. Genny seem to be doing worse as the season progresses so I would by no means put them on the podium as of right now. I would say watch out for WashU to challenge for those last two podium spots. Historically WashU peaks at the right time. During the past 3 years
Rankings going into nationals Vs place at nationals
2014- 12 ended up 4th
2015- 28 ended up 15th
2016- 10 ended up 4th
An all star team made of Eunice Chumba, Ryan Hall, Chris Solinsky, Galen Rupp, and Muktar Edris (historically some of the biggest players in D3) would decimate any of the teams this year. Think about that. Thats how weak D3 is right now. It makes you wonder why North Central would even bother to run a team at nationals.
Anyway. Just some thoughts. I really think that my home town team Eau-Claire is going to go all the way this year. Look at their 2-5 spread from conference:

Wow letsrun formatting is terrible.
Anyway, their spread is less than 50 seconds! If each of them runs 30 seconds faster come nationals, they could be a significant factor for the national title.
I'd currently put Wash U around 6th, so yeah, they could have a shot, along with Calvin, Amherst, Haverford, Christopher Newport, UW - La Crosse.

lax killed eau claire. stout killed eau claire.
eau claire's 2-5 tried to roll just after the mile at conference and got dusted. by both stout's 2-5 and lax's 3-7.
that margin only grows at nationals.
lax ran a 31 second spread without their #3 runner.

Genny looked pretty abysmal at their conference championships. Their pack got beat by some real no-namers. Even the guys who came in 2nd and 4th were pretty trash. I think they could potentially finish outside of the top-10.
They looked like trash if you assume they ran all out at the conference championship...plus it looks like they ran without two of their top three from pre-nationals. IGC clearly held back as he could have beaten the field by over 90 seconds if he wanted. Perhaps the rest of the team did the same? In 2015 the Genny boys climbed from 23rd in the rankings and finished 3rd at the NCAA Championships. Last year they finished second at the big dance. I think they Genny boys know a thing or two about peaking but seems like no one gives them credit since they went home DEVASTATED by NCC last year. They have demonstrated the ability to get on the podium the past two years. Not saying they are going to podium but outside the top 10...really?
1. North Central
2. Haverford
3. Amherst
4. Geneseo
5. Pomona
(6). North Central B-team
6. Loras
7. Wash U
8. MIT
9. LAX
10. Middlebury
11. RPI
You know Loras beat North Central's (B) team pretty handily early in the season right? They put 3 in front of Borowsky too, who is certainly not a B team guy
How do we see the At-Large Bids being allocated this year?
My prediction:
Atlantic - 2
Central - 1
Great Lakes - 1
Mid-East - 2
Mid-West - 4
New England - 3
South - 1
West - 1
2016:
Atlantic - 4
Central - 1
Great Lakes - 2
Mid-East - 1
Mid-West - 2
New England - 2
South - 2
West - 2

That was a 6k, and in AUGUST. North Central also put 5 in front of your one at pre-nats. Borowsky being apart of that group. Hmmm maybe teams get better throughout the season... Who would have thought...
Midwest won't get more than 3. U of Chicago blew up at Conference and lost to NYU that bid will go to Atlantic

You must be from the East coast if you think LAX will be outside a trophy team. They have 3 front runners this year with another 4 guys right behind them. You can't beat a 31 second spread from 1-5 missing the #3 runner.

If you think a 31 second spread is impressive you will be taking 9th at nationals. If you think a 31 second spread is impressive based on a front runner that blew up at nationals last year think again. If you think you're going to have a 31 second spread on a course you haven't seen yet, don't show up.
