I'm in the midst of my first 70 mile week. So far my running has only ever gotten to 60 miles and only for maybe 4 weeks out of the last 3 months. I generally hit 50-55 mpw. As part of this current week I did 8x1ks at around 3:08-3:14 pace. Problem is my current 5k Pr since returning from injury is only 17:20 ish and my all time Pr is 16:45 from 4 years ago before I got hurt. The 1ks today felt hard but manageable with around 2 mins rest between each. But this is way faster than my most recent 5k on roads. I guess I am wondering if I did the workout incorrectly, or maybe I am not tapering enough for my races, not sure what gives.
