Shouldn't Galen be better than he is if he's cheating?

i just wanna know already if he is or not, im getting tired of just speculation and no facts, but the speculation is there because he might be so

Two different athletes:

1)

Breaks a rule about the rate at which fluids can be infused by infusing a compound which is not banned and has not been empirically shown to enhance performance.

2)

Breaks a rule about using a substance (EPO) which has been empirically shown to enhance performance.

Both are "cheaters". One would be expected to be a lot better because he was actually using methods that enhanced performance.

It seems like the NOP was using a lot of pseudoscience and non-evidence based medicine to attempt to find legal or quasi-legal ways to improve performance. I suspect many of them did entirely nothing at all.

I don't follow you...there are known cheaters who are considerably slower than the times you mentioned. Am I supposed to think those guys are not really cheaters?

Your premise is flawed. He is not as talented as the top guys. He's just talented for a white guy.

Salazar just used him to re-live his own career vicariously with less of the mistakes and a whole boatload more of doping and grey area stuff.

Shouldn't he be better?

No one in the world has run a faster 10,000m time than Rupp since 2011.

No one else has in this period has a medal in both of those events.

So, you really think that if you took any person and gave them perfect training conditions, lifestyle, coaching and PED's they should be able to do better than a silver medal in the Olympic marathon? You see the only limiting factor on any person's ability to run under 2:09:57 is getting the right training and access to drugs? Wow.

Is being stupid hard or do you not even notice that you don't understand really simple things?

If it doesn't enhance performance, why does he do it? Maybe he likes needles?

Pro track is sporting entertainment, a business. Not a court of law. Burden of proof is on the vendor to show the customer the product has value. I don't care if it's "not banned" or hasn't been proven to work. The merest suspicion drives away fans.

Not that Rupp isn't pretty good. No doubts there. He is often right up there in the lead pack most of the way.

I guarantee I could take all the drugs in the world and wouldn't break 27. The people that are faster than him are either more talented, take more drugs or both.

Rupp would have been a good HS runner. And that would have been the end of his running career.

Why isn't every skinny little white guy in America really good? With some coaching and drugs they could all be world class! I know it's a troll but the entire premise is so stupid I allowed myself to get sucked in.

He didn't take EPO, he just used an altitude tent to achieve the same end.

Please allow me to reference where I stated that Galen is very talented. I said that he is obviously more talented than me, and hence, many other people. I'm just saying that he may not be as exceptionally talented as previously thought. And for the record, I believe there are many skinny white males that can run 49.0 in the 400 and handle hard training. With fantastic coaching, conditions and even grey area techniques they may just be as good as Galen.

No, he's just as talented as we think. He's just had the continuous dope edge from the beginning too.
