I think you should build up some muscle because I was like you back then. If you put on too much weight it could slow you down.
6ft tall 130 pounds???
Are you by any chance Asbel Kiprop?
The question is how much weight in muscle should I put on
Check the elite runners weight height correlation in the event you wish to run and aim for that. Needless to say, the weight should be with minimal body fat
Based on my pr's what event do I lean towards

Probably longer: 1600, 5k.
You need to gain some weight you are unhealthily slim.

Just don't lean towards a stiff wind, it might knock you over.

I'm guessing you are quite young, you will gain weight naturaly over time don't worry about it.
No. You don't need to try to gain weight. If you do, it won't help distance running. The opposite is true unless you are a sprinter. And by "weight," I assume you mean muscle. Just gaining fat won't help anyone.
Some frames don't gain much weight. You are lucky if that is you. I'm the same height as you. At 16, I weighed 125. At 22, I weighed 145. At 50, I weigh 150. My weight has been 145 +/- 5 pounds 99% of the time since I was 22. I did serious marathon training in late 30s and dropped to upper 130s.
I tried to gain weight in college because I thought I was too skinny. I did some lifting and ate a lot (and drank a lot). Never exceeded 150 even though I really wanted to. Although it isn't so cool to be a thin college kid, now I realize I'm lucky. The older you get, the happier you will be with a thin frame. Most 50 year olds are much heavier than they would like to be.
Dude you are really thin. I wouldn't just gorge on junk food. I would start lifting a few days a week and building some more strength. I can imagine that your muscle mass is quite low. You may add 5-10 pounds from weightlifting but it will likely make you stronger, especially on hills in xc. So I would focus on lifting and maybe eat a bit more protein.
if you want to have success with the ladies, you should hit the gym.
Spend a day everyweek doing hill sprints and circuits/core. You will gain an extra 5 lbs of useful muscle that will help you run faster in anything under a half marathon.
You should try to get to 145. 130 is just way too light for a person of your height.
