Will having arms covered in tattoos hurt my racing time over a marathon?
a little bit
Mike Tyson has tattoos. Do you think Mike Tyson could run a fast marathon? Absolutely not!
Well, a Hep C infection (which happens too frequently with the getting of tats) kills about a tenth of the people who get it. That could slow you down some.
No. They will justify your existence.
Tattoos are for losers.
Have "Where your dreams become reality" tattooed on my c*ck-- I'm hung & fast, thanks, Hurt a bit but the look on Brojo's mom when she first saw it was priceless.
You'll be hurt by the 'look at that dickhead' looks you'll get from people.
You'll get hepatitis and tetanus so yeah
Of course tattoos will hurt you. They will hurt your chances of meeting and keeping a decent girl. They will hurt your career because, right or wrong, they are stigmatized by those in charge and you will be considered somewhat of a wildcard. They hurt your appearance. From about 3 feet away no one can tell what your carefully chosen intricate designs even are. They look like blue and green splotches with a little red highlights. Whatever design(s) you might choose you probably think are the coolest most appropriate perfect thing ever. Remember what you thought was cool at age 10? It isn't that cool now, is it? What makes you think that your "perfect" design will still be perfect and appropriate when you are 40 or 50 or 60? It won't be.
Let me summarize, no girl, crappy job and looking ridiculous. Will tattoos hurt you? Yes. C'mon dude, don't get any tattoos.
Will they hurt your running performance? Probably not.
Runners world cited a study that tattoos reduce sweat rate in that area. Small amount of tattoo probably no issue, but lots of tattoo could be an issue.
how much of a factor the added weight would be
