Never run further than 2 miles consecutively in practice?
I actually heard this on a video from a winning high school girls 4 X 800 relay team member when talking to a cameraman during an interview:
*She said that they varied their "workouts," from 2 miles to 800s.
Perhaps she meant that is what they did for only the "workouts," and then on the other days they did 6 mile runs?
Kids talk differently today about running, so maybe this old man is merely confused. I cannot believe that coaches are still having success by only doing hard interval training.
Then again we have a lot of LRCers saying that the way to 800 meter success now is to run between 15-30 mpw and concentrate on speed endurance. That would mean for the most part...hard interval training!
Gentlemen start your engines and gun me down!!!
