Wonder how fast they will be shooting for. Manangoi has talked a big game about being in WR shape and Kiprop isn't afraid to go for it.

If they are serious about a fast time, I'd urge them to run the first turn in lanes. Put 2 in each lane.
I have never seen a mile race run with a one turn stagger in lanes.
It's not necessary.
If they were serious, they'd run this meet at 7pm, and not 12.30. Why do they do that? Tv or something? It's the same every year. Usually windy, too.
No Makhloufi? He's a Nike athlete.

Great field. Manangoi or Kwemoi will win this but they won't win the world's. Expect some early season shockers.
Top 3-5 finish for Murphy here maybe? With 143 speed in April, gotta imagine hes ready to run a huge pr in the mile. I definitely think he will be the top American finisher (Centro just has not ran well since Rio) but how fast will he go is my question?
Clearly not a World Championship preview since they have pacers

I was thinking the same thing. I suspect he doesn't want to be bothered with the travel. (Here come the travel ban jokes) Makh will be there when the big one rolls around. Kiprop might step up again at the WC, especially since they let his main man Aden skate after last year's slip up (officials greased the palms of the Spanish authorities after the fact).

Not sure why there would be travel ban jokes when Mahkdaddy isn't from one of the countries the ban was applied to.
Prediction #1: Manangoi for the win over Kiprop.
Prediction #2: Murphy over Centro. People are overhyping Murphy, but they will continue to do so after this race. He will beat out Centro, who will finish back in the 2nd half of the pack as he continues to round into form after injury. This will not mean Centro is "done."
Prediction #3: This season marks the beginning of the end for Asbel. He's been on top for so long now, and even as one of history's best, it's tough to maintain that level of dominance for long. He will still be good, but not quite as good.
Centro is not in great shape. See his Payton Jordan 5k.
seems so, but he also ran 1:49.2 at 4500 ft altitude today... anyone have the conversion?

Is 4500 ft considered "altitude"?

Roughly... 1:49

Aden has sod all to do with Asbel Kiprop.
Kiprop has won the last three world championships, he was fastest in the world last year, he has run the fastest time 5 out of the last 6 years and has broken 3:30 for five years in a row. Saying he "might step up again at the WC" is the most timid prediction I've ever heard.

I think NCAA would give that a -0.50. I'm more inclined to agree ?!? with Loper and hive it a couple of ticks but not much more. 1:49.00
