Big snowpack this year.

He's on pace now. But no. Hard to root for a guy that got a DUI and cheated at Air Force
Easy to root for a person who made some mistakes and is working to be self actualized.

How exactly does one become self actualized while continuing to deny one's own culpability in said mistakes?
he's getting after it
Probably not going to go sub-14 after that snowy start, but with a 30 minute gap at 24.4 miles, will he win by around 2 hours?
From what I've seen he's owned up to his mistakes.
As long as he's not cutting corners in ultra running and is doing things clean and straight now that's fine by me

He's awesome.

Really? Blaming the Secretary of the Air Force for his discharge is owning up to his mistakes? Claiming he was "technically" honorably discharged when he wasn't, is owning up to his mistakes? The numerous excuses surrounding his DUI, is owning up to his mistakes? Heck, it took him a year in the spotlight to even address the subject of why he didn't complete his AF obligation. Based on the timing, it is very likely only at his sponsors' urging and with their assistance on the PR spin.
I guess some people have lower expectations for what constitutes taking responsibility and owning up to your mistakes.

By the way, he could have just come out and said something like "I got busted for DUI, I did something really dangerous and stupid." "I was involved in the cheating scandal and was given a General Discharge as a result." "I made some stupid mistakes, I have learned from them and I hope to be better because of it."
Had he done that, I would be right there with you - made some mistakes, taking ownership of that, and moving onward and upward. Everybody deserves a chance to be a better person.
Instead, in the ultrarunner podcast interview, he provides a litany of excuses, deflections, and obfuscations about these issues. He isn't taking ownership of his mistakes, he is providing excuses for them. Huge difference.
Wheels Coming Off
If the DUI hadn't happened, he probably wouldn't be leading the Western States 100 miler right now. I'm glad no one was hurt. I see it was painful to open himself to this as I was unaware before, never-the-less I wish him a satisfactory race.
Butt hurt much over something that hasn't affected you or anyone other than JW?

The big picture - he's a runner. a runner with a DUI and a discharge from the air force.
Will Jim Walmsley Finish Western States?
