Do you have a GPS tracker collar on your dog?
Do you think you need one?
Would you buy one at 80 bucks and $10 a month for the app?

bump for the late night dog walkers
No. I bought my dawg an inexpensive Garmin to track his mileage. The screen is black and white but since he can't see color it doesn't bother him.
Why would I need a dog specific GPS watch? Why would my dog need a $10/month app subscription?
Depends, if the dog is running at heel or leashed then no need.
If he's running to and fro on a trail run then I'd probably collar him up just so I don't lose him. The tracking collars are expensive though, $600 range for most.
My dog has a Garmin Astro.
It's nice to have.
I wouldn't buy one for $80 bucks and $10 for an app because I already have an Astro for free. (Girlfriend upgraded to a Garmin Alpha.) Also, most app makers usually skip Windows phone. If it's not in the Windows Store, I can't use it on my phone.

The OP is talking about a collar that use cell service. That's why there's a monthly fee. There are some already available from multiple sources. They wouldn't work for me because I'm often out in parks/wilderness/mountains without cell service.
Would I pay never that much but I do wonder how many miles my dog actually covers when he goes on an off-leash 18-miler with me. He circles around enough he could easily be running a marathon or more.
Something very similar around for a while. In fact, I think the guy that invented it even named it after his dog!

Depends on the dog. It's not unusual for the more energetic of our dogs to go 16 miles in a 10 mile run through the woods. The older and less energetic dogs would go 10 miles, and might even know the shortcuts to get that even lower. This is tracked with Garmin GPS collars and handheld units that cost $600-800 depending of if they also have e-collar functions (plus $250-300 for additional collars, since my GF has 6 dogs).
looks like a short dozen or so similar items out there.
Are you talking about something to track a lost dog or something to track the dog's mileage?
I did strap an old Garmin on a dog once. He liked to chase rabbits and such. It was pretty funny to see his Garmin map. He ran about 30% farther than I did.

I'm pretty sure this is a location device not a mileage recorder.
If you're looking for an easy way to track your and your dog activities, Rundogo is an app for you. You can choose activities such as canicross, walking, bikejoring etc., and also types of activities when going solo, like running, swimming and more. You can track yourself and more dogs simultaneously, see stats for each of you. :)
You can check the app here:
I either use my own GPS info to track my dog's mileage or I strap on a really old Garmin we have.
I don't go in for specific devices like this, and I avoid monthly fees like the plague.
