Of course there is always somebody speaking of doping, when an athlete is able to do something that, for people not having any historical knowledge, is better than the normal level.
What Ronald did is, of course, a very good race, and his final furlong was something difficult to see. But his final time gave him the position 22 in the all-time list, so it's stupid to think is something incredible.
People speaks of doping because never had the opportunity to meet, and to know, some athlete of extra-class. You can see the talent of these athletes already when are very young and with little training : they have a great biomechanical action, which doesn't need any adjustment, they are mentally strong and able to train very hard, they have a high basic speed.
When we speak of marathon, we see some opinion that is totally ridiculous : for example, 2:10 is the human limit without doping, that means that there are 875 athletes doped (the number of runners under 2:10 in the all-time lists).
But, of course, English and American didn't use any doping, also when able running under 2:10. How fast could run Steve Jones, who in 1985 won Chicago in 2:07:13 after going at HM in 61:43 completely alone ? You don't think he could run, in a competition of 2017, around 2:05, inside a group of runners going at HM at the same speed ? So, do you think also Steve was doped, or you know his doping was 3 liters of beer every day ?
I'm tired of people who see doping everywhere. I know what I do, and I know what many other coaches do, and I know a lot of best runners in the world who are completely clean. Maybe somebody uses doping, sometimes we can have some suspicion about some athlete, but these suspicions can't cancel the fact that WE KNOW WHO ARE THE TOP ATHLETES CLEAN.
And, please, don't ask some stupidity such as "which proof you have that they are clean". This is like asking somebody that you don't know, and that you casually meet on the road, "give me a proof you are honest".
I think in a normal world we have to believe everybody is honest, and if we have some doubt is our task to find proves he is not. Of course, we know many are not honest, but this doesn't authorize to think everybody is not honest (excluded, of course, who has this thought).
The only fault of Ronald is to have a top talent, something among my athletes only Shaheen had similar. He doesn't use anything, and I hope can raise the bar of "clean performances" in some year time.
