I thought the 5:45 AM start would be a bad idea. Apparently not.

Fantastic run by Kipchoge. I hope this time trial does not affect his future. So many guys who set world records in the marathon are shot afterwards and never run anywhere near as well. Hoping Eliud is the exception.
Great run by Tedese.
WHAT RHE HAIL HAPPENED TO Lelisa!? He looks like he went though the war!
Aided or not, bullshiit event or not, a man just ran a marathon 2.5 minutes under the world record. A man ran 2:00:24. Effing-A.
What did Tadese run??? Time for fok sake...

It is impossible IDIOT. Running is a slipstream isn't running.
moran doesn't realize that all the critics were saying that 2 hours wouldn't be possible aided
What happened to the car with the laser? It wasn't there on that last bit

Props to Nike for putting on this event
Agreed all around. Nike won me over for life with this effort. Incredibly inspiring, and really cool that they would put so much time, effort, and money into it.

It stayed on pace, presumably.
That is simply amazing. 4.35.73 FOR 26.2 MILES. Give the guy some credit.
Bloody hell that was seriously impressive.
25 seconds? After dropping that much time, the psychological barrier is surely far weaker..
Also, I'd say this is proof that by optimising as many variables as possible, over 26.2 miles you can really make a big difference

Dude, I agree it was a bad tweet. Weldon deleted it. But hell my professional credibility was 25 seconds from being smashed. I 'd have to shut down the job and get a job. Who is going to hire a 43-year old pseudo journalist who can't spell even if went to Princeton? I'd be lucky to work at McDs and aren't robots taking over there?
Had to be 2:05-6 right?Poor Desisa btw...dude is dead man walking.

He actually looked like he was turning grey in the last lap. Like Benjamin Button.
Tru dat !
Wow the last 5 minutes were incredible, with the pacers encouraging him, phew...
Here comes Desisa, not his best time, Tadese broke his record by a good 4 minutes, no ?
I'm still going with a nike sh!tshow. They took the best marathoner in the world, set up pacers to break wind the whole race and then act like all their scientific garbage like shoes and kinesio tape was the difference.
I have to go take a shower.
People aren't calling you out about being wrong, right, or "calling it a draw". They're calling you out for the remarkable level of disrespect you've showed towards an incredible piece of distance running, even with the caveats attached to it.
Not surprised by what happened to Desisa -- he ran a ridiculously fast first 15k, it's amazing his legs are even still attached.

2 hours clearly isn't possible. What race were you watching?

Kipchoge looks about 45
Um, because he just ran 2:00:25.
Holy shyteballs, can we all just admit that most of us did not believe this would happen? I really thought this was an epic Nike fail, but they are effing geniuses, I suppose.
I'm in shock.

Yeah. At first I wasn't having any of this clear marketing ploy. But they really put a lot of effort into this, maybe a bit more science than common sense (why pick Tadese and Desisa over others?) Definitely worth the watch, I'm surely inspired. Science helped him, this doesn't count as a real record, whatever. But still, this is truly a tremendous run. Part of history no doubt
