Eric is running the 800 at the payton jordan invy against Shaq Walker. We now get to see what this 5k guy has for leg speed. What do you guys think he will run?

AT LeAst a solid 12
Eric can crank up at the end of 1500m/mile. I say 1:47, but no faster.
A 3:49 miler can only run 1:47? Cam Levins can run that and he is no where close to Jenkins in the mile. I say 1:44-45.

Jenkins is a 3:53 miler. His 3:35 1500m also converts to about 3:53.
He ran a mile race and got 3:49, his slow 1500 doesn't matter since he ran a mile at 3:49. In fact, Levins is a 3:53 miler so maybe you meant him but idk.
Downhill mile. Centro backed off after rio
Also no turns. 3:49 is like a sprinter getting an aiding wind at his back.

1:49
no faster
I would be very surprised if he was any faster than 1:49.

So he's as fast in the 800 as Centro? Brilliant

also his 3:53 mile at Milrose in Feb coverts to exactly a 3:53 mile on my charts.
Yeah I'd say the guesses of 1:47-1:49 would be pretty accurate. 1:49.x but maybe 1:47.x considering he's done some speedwork / shorter intervals to train up for this. Would be nuts if he broke 1:47.

No he didn't. Which race?
He ran it at 5th avenue last year edging out Centro
1:46.8
Don't forget some of his gnarly kicks and 1500s.
To those saying 1:49, Sam Worley, a HSer who hasn't broken 4:00 in the mile just ran 1:49. One of the top 5k men in the country isn't faster than a HS kid?
You geniuses know he is doubling with the 1500m right? He is going to do the same thing as he did for opening indoors this year at UW where he ran the 1000/mile double 2:23/3:58- this is his low-key season opener, he's probably going to run maybe 1:48-50 and 3:40 something. The 800m time isn't going to be anything special. Now that being said, I believe Jenkins probably has a 1:47 possibly 1:46 in him in peak conditions, but he is not going to run it at Payton.

Over 800m sure it is possible. I expect Jenkins to run a 1:48+-1s. Breaking 1:47 would be shocking. So would not breaking 1:50. There have been a lot of 3:35 1500m/5000m in history. Not many of them run sub 1:47. If you have that level of speed and strength, you run faster than 3:35.
And no a downhill mile doesn't count as a PR any more than boston marathon times count for american records.

1:46.8-1:47.5
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
