For me, a 5 mile run I thought was pretty good, by the time I do that I'm usually breathin so hard, drenched in sweat and my legs are pulsing in pain, have a hernia on left leg that bulges out.
Then I usually need the next day off to recover from this because it took so much outta me and my leg will still hurt a bit and will be fatigued even though I eat pretty good.
You think I should start running everyday and say screw recover days? Or keep the recover days but try to run further instead?

Why is that, are you tryin to say that site doesn't have as much committed people to running as this site so I belong there? I am dedicated, I came from bein a drug addict, drinkin over 2 liters of whisky a day, smokin 2 packs of cigs..etc. and now I am sober, don't drink even 1 beer and haven't touched a cig, I'm changing my life around and just want to become a better runner and instead of givin me the benefit of the doubt and offering some advice to help me on my journey to being one of the elites, you want to put me down and tell me I don't got what it takes.
Build mileage up slowly, transitioning to running 7 days a week. In off days from running, try biking to keep the impact on your body a bit less as your body starts to adapt. Keep your easy days much slower than you are currently running at; the pace should be conducive to holding an easy conversation.
And stop running 5 miles three times a week. It's too long for you right now. Next week, run 3 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 2, slowly, none of it in pain or feeling like you're injuring yourself. After a a few weeks, that will seem easy. Then increase the distance a little bit. Repeat the process for a while. Eventually, 5 miles and 30 mpw will feel easy.

Runnersworld would be perfect for you. Your story isn't much different from the fatasses on a weight loss journey.
