Open 400=400 without hurdles
Open 400=400 without hurdles
She had a relay split of 50.37 at Penn, open 400 pr is 51.87 and her 400 hurdle pr is 54.15.
AT 17- I'd say both. Who knows what she is capable of over next t0+ years.
Maybe a WR in the 400 hurdles.
Hurdles. Per 400 PR won't get her anywhere near a WC final.
Competition is greater at the 400m. She can dominate in the 400mH while being relatively better at 400m.

50.82 was the last qualifier for the finals in 2015 so I think you might want to check your facts.

Yeah, are you kidding. She just ran a full half second faster. By 2019, she'll be winning the finals at WC
her 50.3 is a split, with a running start. maybe worth 50.8 or worse. her second 400m in 2 days, so maybe the rounds won't bother her too much but she'll need to race 3 times to even run in the finals.
she ought to stick to the 400m H as it's weaker and she can win more events. keep doing the 400m obviously though, but not in champs

You are comparing her time in April (in what basically was a rust buster meet for her) to what fully tapered professionals were running all out (not in lane 2 btw) in August and STILL think she wouldn't be sniffing the finals? Give me a break.
I don't think that you or others understand just how good McLaughlin is or will be. The U.S. high school record in the 400m is 50.69 by Sanya Richards.
McLaughlin has over a month left in her junior campaign, not including international competition, and she has already split 50.3 and might be in shape already to break 51 in the open, as you say. If she has a shot at breaking Richards' record already as a junior, then the sky's the limit in the event.
Do you mean "junior" as an U18? Because she's a senior in high school
id say both.she's brilliant,at both.her only worry,is too much too soon.phenomenal juniors like her very rarely go on to make it to a higher leval.shes got the potential to be a world record holder in the hurdles, provided she hasnt already peaked too soon.
I would like to see here move up to the 800.

Fixed typo.
Had the same thought. Or maybe the steeple
None of the above. Modeling for sure. She's a stone cold fox.

With her looks and talent, she can be a female Usain Bolt. Nike will promote her unlike any other.
Yeah, like they did with Bolt....

Maybe she's the next Marie Jose Perec... 48.25 400m, 53.21 400mH
