I'm a high schooler who usually runs the 100 (10.82 legal, 10.78 w/ 3.2 wind) and the 200 (22.22 legal, 21.97 w/ 2.3 wind). While I rarely run the 400 I've been consistently hitting 49 low (PR of 49.36), and I'm interested in finally hitting 48. My race plan is relatively simple / effective but I'm worried I'm not executing it properly to hit a 48. My race plan is as follows:
0-50 (full speed)
50-200 (float)
200-280 (reaccelerate)
280-400 (use the last of the curve to "slingshot" home)
Naturally, being primarily a 100 / 200 runner, a 400 seems incredibly daunting and I always seem to conserve my energy a bit too much until the last 120. If there's an "optimal" way to run the 400 when you are primarily a 100 / 200 guy, I'd appreciate it a ton.
