How fast must a girl run 300m hurdles in order to make it to leagues in Pennsylvania ?
This won't help you but maybe my question can get answered. I like track and actually watch it on TV whenever possible. I read stuff like this and have people I root for. About 2 weeks ago I became aware of the 300 hurdles. I've never seen this event and don't know who would run it or when. T&FN lists records for it but not World Records.
So it seems to be an uncommon event like the 2000 steeplechase as opposed to not an event at all like the 3200. Where and when does one find it. How many hurdles are there. I would assume 10 just like in every outdoor race including the also-rare 200. In the 200h it seems the hurdles were 5 steps apart (however far that would be) when I've seen it on TV. So, farther than in the 100 but quite a bit closer than the 400 but still 10 barriers. How about for the 300? An honest question from a track fan who's never seen it run.

There's 8 hurdles; effectively they just stick a finish line at the 300 meter mark of the 400 hurdle race. That is to say, it's 45 meters to the first hurdle, and 35 meters between (just like the 400s). That works out to 10 meters between the 8th hurdle and the finish line.
It's just a high school event in some states where they think high schoolers are too wimpy to do the 400 hurdles (as a former hurdler, I'd tend to agree...)
Leagues is all based on how your particular league allows entries into its Championship meet. Your District probably has a time qualifier that you have to hit to gain entry. Then, depending upon your finish you may qualify for the PIAA State Meet based on either time or place at your District meet.
300m hurdles is what most high schools run instead of the 400m hurdles.
