My top HS girl soloed 5:01 for 1600 six weeks ago at early season meet. Also PR at 800 with 2:17 hour later and 11:01 3200 thirty min later.
Since then slow erosion of times. This week 5:17 in a hard race and then 2:23 and 11:45. All pushing hard to qualify for Regional this weekend.
Per kid, anything over 800m is miserable (used to love 1600/3200).
Did lab yesterday. Hematocrit 34 (was 44 in fall). Iron saturation 7%, Ferritin 5.
No heavy menstrual period. Doc is ambivalent, recommends more expensive IV iron or slower acting cheaper oral.
Any thoughts on this?
Current times won't make it in 800 or 1600 but 11:30 will make it in 3200 which maybe she can do if drops 1500/800 prior.
Training recs for this weekend? Original plan was workout today, short Tempo Thur, race Sat. Now just easy runs? Just rest and let body make blood? Stop season? Although doc said ok to continue but stop any expectations.
