What the title says. Let's say this 5k is not run on a track and run on a flat grassy course with little difference in elevation. What is the equivalent to a 10:00 3200m?

15:35
I didn't mean an equal pace, that is about 5:01 pace, I mean an equal performance.
About 16:30.
I would actually say around 16:40-16:50
For a high schooler, 10:00 ~16:15-30 on the track, so 16:45-17:00 in XC. But by the time you do XC in the fall, you should be stronger than 10 flat, so 16:30 is a good target on a fairly fast course.

In this range. BUT Coming off a 10:00 3200 season you could aim for sub 16

Good answer
in 2016, 191 boys in Michigan broke 10 in the 3200m.
in 2016 221 broke 16:30 in the 5k
in 2015 the fall before spring track (where 191 broke 10, 253 broke 16:30 in the 5k)
This isn't the most logical conclusion to make but it looks like a 10min 3200m is worth about a 16:20 5k.
i just used Michigan as a point of reference because that's where i live.
