Hello everyone, thanks for clicking on my thread. I'm sorry for all the grammar mistakes I'll surely make, but English is not my native language.
Let me introduce myself : I'm a 16 years old passionated jogger (I'm not a runner, not yet) who started to jog around last summer, in July. I was running for about 20-30 minutes but this was at a high pace for a total beginner as I am : my main goal was to sweat as much as possible, to hurt my legs like hell just to feel good and proud of myself...yes this was stupid but this was my way of thinking the very first weeks of running.
Then I took awareness of the real purpose of running : to relax. A few weeks later, I discovered that you have to run slow to get better...so I gave it a shot and tried. I was now running at a slow pace for about 1 hour, repeating the same lap everytime. I was doing it 4 days per week and It was really cool.
So in September I decided to sign up in a club to get even better and find some mates to train with. I learned even more about training and running was really the best thing in my life at this very moment. I discovered the excitement of races, the feeling of getting better day after day, to run against your friends on a race...this was really great!
In october-november-december I was running about 60 to 70 mpw with a 75 peak on the holidays. I won 3 races in my category, and I was very motivated to improve day after day, I was running everyday - sometimes even before AND after school, up to +3h of training in a single day...
And then in January, this happened. I got injured for 1 month and coudn't run at all because of the illiotibial bandlet syndrom. I tried everything : kinesitherapis, stretch, baths, ice, but nothing was working : to rest was the only way to get rid of this.
So in mid February I restatted running very slowy. In March, I tried to do some fast workouts as I used to do before the injury but I couldn't do any race-pace workout anymore. The thing is, when I go for a very light R-pace session (like 10x400m for example) my knee hurts a little bit right after the workout (not during, only after) and so I'm really scared to be injured again, I have to rest 2 or 3 full days...
So that's it, I'm trapped. I can barely do a single fast workout anymore without having my knee painful. I mean, it's not painful as before (I could barely walk) but that's a little pain in the knee which makes me really scared about being injured for more than 1 month again...
Please, help me. Should I only do light, easy jogs and completely avoid fast workouts? Is this the way I could be good again at running?
A huge thanks to you who reads this ans have a nice day.
