Trying to achieve a 10 minute 1.5 mile run. I have not ran since 2014 and my current run time is 12:17 for 1.5 miles. I'm 6'2" 220 age 30.
Anyone have a successful plan that will get me to 10 or sub 10? I have a 2 month deadline. Thanks!

I'm 36 years old, 5'10, 170 pounds. The navy has us do a 1.5 mile run for our fitness tests. My best is a 7:35, but I've ran 7:24 in a road race before.
to run a 10 minute 1.5 mile run you have run at 6:40 pace. If you haven't ran in 3 years and only have two months to do it, my biggest worry would be getting injured. In my opinion you really don't have too much time to build a base and add to that.
Personally, I would spend the first month just getting some miles under your legs. Start easy with 2-3 mile jogs and keep adding to it. Hopefully at the end of 4 weeks, you can jog 5-6 miles without walking.
Then I would spend the last 4 weeks getting used to a 6:40 pace. 400 meter intervals at 1:40 pace, or 800 meter intervals at 3:20 pace. Start with a few repeats like 4x400 with 2 minute rest and shorten the rest period as you move along the weeks. That and with a little bit of weight loss and you might do it. Are you doing this alone. Someone to pace you would definitely help you out. I've seen 12 minute guys run high 10's by just pacing behind someone faster.
Like I said, my biggest worry would be getting injured. Good luck to you.
