tough call. More dominant definitely goes to usain bolt. I mean theres a reason theres never a GOAT sprinter debate. Better athlete is hard to call because as a basketball player there is a lot more skills to be demonstrated than sprinting. I think maybe slight edge to james. Better for their sport? Well, james pulls more money to the nba than bolt does to sprinting but basketball has many marketable players and will be popular either way. Bolt is the posterboy of track and is the only reason a lot of people get excited to watch.
Im giving the edge to bolt solely for his dominance over the sport tho. The only other athlete I can think of who was/is that dominant is gretzky but he is far from the pure athlete bolt or james are.
Most dominate - clearly Usain
Better athlete - clearly Usain No one has ever done what Usain has done. Basketball is a skill sport and not solely an athletic event.
Better for their sport - clearly Usain, that one is obvious.

DOMINANCE
Usain Bolt is clearly the more dominant athlete, particularly in championship events. From 2008 to 2016 Bolt or his relay team has crossed the finish line first in 20 of the 21 Olympic and World Championship events he competed in. His sole on the track "loss" occurred due to a false start in the 2011 WC 100 meter final.
Lebron James is 3 of 7 in NBA finals. Obviously, it is harder for Lebron to dominate a team game but Lebron's playoff performances have had very high highs and some very low lows.
ATHLETICISM
20 years from now, the only serious what if about Usain Bolt will be his decision not to train seriously for the 400. In terms of money, longevity, and prestige Usain Bolt's decision to stick to the 100 and 200 was the smart move. That said, if Bolt had ditched the 100 after 2009, trimmed off 5 to 10 pounds and focused on the 400 in 2010 and 2011, the WR might sit somewhere between 42.6 and 42.9. If Bolt had earned a WR or Oly Gold in either the 400 or the Long Jump, he would be the unquestioned Greatest Athlete of All Time. As it stands right now, he has to settle for the unquestioned Greatest Sprinter of All Time.
Lebron is the greatest off the ball player in the history of the game, both offensively and defensively. No one has ever possessed Lebron's combination of size, explosiveness, and court vision. He is the best all-around athlete in the history of the NBA. Advantage to Lebron in terms of athleticism.
IMPACT
Usain Bolt is the savior of 21st Century track and field. He is both the best performer and the most likable personality in all of track and field. He brought global attention to track and field in a time when it desperately needed a star
LeBron James is the obvious heir to Michael Jordan's position as the perennial "real" MVP and face of the NBA. He is a funny guy who has created his own place in pop culture. That said, there is more than a little prima donna to Lebron James which has prevented him from gaining universal acceptance as America's big man on campus. No matter how many titles he eventually wins, he will not surpass MJ as the GOAT.
FINAL EVALUATION
All in all, Usain Bolt IS the MJ of track and field. He changed the expectations for world class sprinters, both on and off the field. Lebron, for all his phenomenal talent, has not changed the way the game is played and has instead thrived through his underrated ability to adapt to a game that has gone small and long.
